I used:
- 1 cup of sliced almonds
- 1 1/2 cup of old fashioned oats
- 5 spoons of honey
I mixed the oats and almonds in a container then I heated the honey in the microwave for 30 seconds and poured in into the mix. With a spoon I made sure everything was covered in honey.
I covered a baking sheet with the mix and placed it in the oven. I had preheated the oven and then left the mix inside for 30 minutes. I tossed every 10 minutes until everything was brown and perfect.
I've tried to make my own granola before and it never turned out good: too bland or too soft. I figured It couldn't be that difficult to get it right and this time I didn't even bother to check for measurements or tips in other recipes, instead I gave it a little thought: I like it crunchy, with tons of almonds and not that sweet. I combined the ingredients accordingly and well...I now have my home made granola made to my own taste.
We only get the sugar packed or the artificially sweetened granola here in El Salvador. No thank you. From now on I'll make my own.
